Obviously this is my first time blogging and I have put off starting a blog for a good two years now. So why start now? Well first of all my family recently moved to Richmond TX. We have lived here for about a month and a half and I really don't know anyone yet. Second, I just finished a semester of school and being a stay at home mom I needed something to keep myself busy with. I thought that maybe if I start a blog I can keep in touch with my family and friends back home while starting to build new relationships here in Texas.
Lately my life has been full of firsts. This is the first time I have ever lived outside of Utah and things are not quite the same as back home. When it rains, it pours... literally! The rainstorms here make Utah rainstorms look like a light sprinkle. The humidity makes the hot hotter and the cold colder. Needless to say I HATE THE HUMIDITY. It is December 18th and its 70 degrees outside. The grass is green, the trees still have leaves on them and the ground isn't frozen and covered in snow. This will be the first time ever that I won't have a white Christmas. Not that it's a bad thing to have a green Christmas, it's just different from what I'm used to.
This is the first time I have experience southern hospitality and I must admit a big fan! People have been so welcoming and kind it has been relieving. I'm not a huge fan of throwing myself in front of people to meet them and get to know them. Down here, I don't have to! It has been amazing having people come up to talk to me. People are so genuine and nice. People in Utah are friendly, but it can take a bit longer to get to know them.
Kayson took his first steps the other day. He is 15 months old and I thought that day would never come. I was so excited be done with the crawling stage because everything gets put in his mouth when it's eye level. But now he is walking all over and making mess quicker than he was before.
I'm sure there have been more firsts than I mention but these seem to be the most significant for the time being. Here's to the firsts!
